All you need to know prior to your treatment

Before Your Appointment

  • Hydrate. Why should you hydrate if you're coming in for an IV, isn't it supposed to rehydrate you? Absolutely, but the more dehydrated you are, the smaller your veins are. They tend to hide on us when we're low on fluids! So give yourself and your doctor a helping hand by drinking a few glasses of water before your appointment.

  • Eat. Something, anything! It's important to keep your blood sugar levels up so you feel comfortable during your treatment Some of the vitamins and minerals have a blood sugar and blood pressure lowering effect which, if you're running on empty already, can make your feel a little lightheaded.

During Your Treatment

  • During a celluerase treatment a special sterile microblade will be used to make small incisions to cut the fibres of tissue causing the depressions in the specified area to allow the tissue to spring back and regain a smoother and firmer appearance.

  • During the procedure, the patient will lie down typically on their front so we can easily treat the cellulite, local anaesthetic will be used to numb the treatable areas, small incisions will be made, to treat the depressed areas and then it will be cleaned and treated with dressings.

After Your Treatment

  • After the treatment It’s likely that you may have bruising on and around the treated area along with tendereness and slight swelling as the area begins to heal, this will have a full recovery time of around 1-2 weeks.

  • By around two weeks after your treatment, you should see a noticeable level of improvement in the appearance of the affected areas and the results will continue to improve.

  • To ease the tenderness you may be encoraged to take paracetemol so the areas is more comfortable while it begins to heal.

  • Although the micro blade used is very narrow, occasionally the treatment may result in a tiny scar. Thickened scars, such as hypertrophic or keloid scars, may occur. If you have  a tendency for these, it is essential you inform your practitioner. Rarely the treatment may result in scabs, blisters or vesicles at the treatment site.

  • Pigmentation may occur due to the bruising within the skin, it is important to avoid exposure to UV light until healing is complete.

  • Following treatment, the area can be quite red, warm, tender and swollen for the first few days as healing takes place. Occasionally there may be some altered sensation, numbness or tingling within the area, this sometimes takes a few days or weeks to settle.
